Ginger and honey sbiten

This old East Slavic drink is not only tasty, but also healthy — it perfectly strengthens the immune system and warms up in cold weather.

Ingredients:

500 ml water
3 tbsp. l. honey
1/3 tsp ginger
1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp mint
some cinnamon and cloves to taste

Preparation:

1. Grate the zest and squeeze the juice from half a lemon. Bring water to a boil and remove from heat.
2. Add spices, juice, lemon zest and honey and stir.
3. Cover or pour into a thermos and infuse the drink for 30 minutes, strain before use.
4. Bon appetit!
