Gedlibzhe — a dish of Kabardino-Balkaria cuisine. Very simple, hearty and tasty thanks largely to the amazing sauce fried onions and sour cream.

Gedlibzhe prepared in different ways: someone puts greater sour cream, some less. Its composition remains unchanged — chicken, sour cream and onion.

Most recipes simply fried onions. But I have a slightly different version, which I like the most. Try this very simple, but tasty and juicy dish.


Chicken 800g
Onion 3 pc
Garlic 2 pieces
Sour cream 200ml
Sunflower oil 30 ml
Table salt 2 tsp
1 tsp curry
Ground red pepper 3 g
Parsley 20 g


1. For the preparation of this dish will need: chicken, onion, sour cream, garlic, sunflower oil, salt, red bell pepper, parsley and dill.
2. Pieces of chicken salt and put in a pan with vegetable oil.
3. Simmer, covered for about 30 minutes until almost cooked.
4. While the chicken stewed, start to cook the sauce. Cut onions. Size cutting does not matter. Put the pan with sunflower oil. Add the garlic, but it’s a matter of taste, it can be done without it.
5. Next, fry until golden brown.
6. Use the blender do roasted onion puree.
7. mashed onion add the sour cream, salt, curry, red pepper powder.
8. Finely cut herbs and add to the sauce.
9. We shift the sauce ingredients in a saucepan or pot. 100 ml of water or broth. If you want salt and mix well. The sauce is ready.
10. braised chicken put in the sauce and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
